Unfolding Memories – Poem on Kashmir

Poem on Kashmir By khawaja musadiq

every night. i put it in my heart. home.
i breathe kashmir. miles away from kashmir.

memories rising. from beyond the mountains.
like a sunrise. leaving you with just warmth.

summer fastened to my lips.
birds in my eyes. flying.

there is green. there is blue.
rushing through you. this is peace.

this sky is so full of god.
and my heart. so full of home.

honey drips from my eyes. soft and slow.
but my finger tips don’t lick verses.

every night. i fail to translate my paradise.

‘ husn-e-jaana ki tareef mumkin nahi ’
