Iqra Aija is a 26-year old Entrepreneur who hails from Rajbagh area of Srinagar. She started her own chain of homemade food venture, Food Mania in 2015 after witnessing the rise of food adulteration.
Iqra is a practising lawyer holding Honors in law from Kashmir University. She has been a student of Minto Circle School, Rajbagh. The idea behind the initiative of her cooking venture was to provide Pure food to the people of Valley.
“The concept behind Food Mania was to deliver food in Organic form. The growth of diseases due to impure food, artificial colours and preservatives triggered me to start something that may serve Kashmiri people”
During the establishment of Food Mania, Iqra found it difficult to manage both her profession and passion but the overwhelming response that she received kept her going. She has done a course in Baking (Fondant and Icing) from IHM, Rajbagh.
“My family has been really supportive of me all along, especially my fiancé. I see a bright scope for Homemade dishes, also I’m planning to open a restaurant where we can maintain food ethics and purity”
Iqra is an active volunteer at Shafqat rehabilitation centre, Bemina. Her food specialities include Italian, Chinese, Mughlai and all kinds of different cuisines. In Jan 2018, she single-handedly organized a 15-day crash course for people who were inspired by her work.
